Thanks for Giving

As tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day, I would like to take time out to honor all of the wonderful sellers on Etsy who donate all or part of the proceeds from their shops to charity. People have their special causes they contribute to. It may be to care for our animals, or to save trees, or to help find a cure for a disease. Whatever the cause, it is wonderful to see so many caring people in the Etsy community. I also want to thank my own two daughters Cary and Katy for the contributions they have made from their shops during the past year. I am so very proud of you. Below are just four of the many sellers who make charitable contributions. I wish I could list them all.

Trees

Is there anything more majestic than the tree. As I sit here this afternoon basking in the warm sunshine streaming through my window, I am enjoying my view of the trees. Some are still wearing their beautiful dresses of red, orange, and yellow, while others have shed their clothing and are fabulous in their simplicity. Trees. Isn't it amazing how much they provide us with. I hope you enjoy these fine examples I found on Etsy.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to stop and enjoy the trees.

Home Composting

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Kentucky. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the neighborhood children are riding their bikes and scooters, and I have been sitting on the patio with one of the cats enjoying the unusual warmth and watching the birds at the feeder. All of this made me start to think about what I can do to plan for next spring and for limiting my footprint on this wonderful earth.

Composting is one way of limiting our waste while contributing to an organic garden. The above pictures were taken from a wonderful article on Design Sponge online. If you have an interest in composting you will definitely want to read this article. It reminds me that my daughter Cary,
who recently moved into her first house, in Atlanta, with her husband and two children is busy composting for her new organic vegetable garden.

I found some great things on etsy to help the rest of us get started.
