forced relaxation

How many times have I said "I wish I could just have a day where I could lie in the bed, rest, read a book, watch old movies.....". Well, today is that day. So what am I doing? I'm complaining about it, because I'm forced to lie in bed and rest my knee. I'm sitting here and thinking about all the things I need to do. In other words, I am not a good patient.

This reminds me of that old Jimmy Stewart movie, Rear Window. Have you ever seen it? Confined to his New York City apartment with a broken leg, a photographer (Stewart) passes time by peering out his window, and develops an obsessive interest in his neighbors’ lives. This suspenseful thriller unfolds in classic Hitchcock fashion: what begins as an innocuous series of events gradually turns irrevocably sinister.  (via classicfilm)

I love that movie and if you have never seen it, you really should. I'd like to think my forced rest today is going to be as thrilling as Stewart's was, but this is the view of my window from my bed.

It's a pretty window, but I can't see much except the sky and an occasional bird flying by. Not too exciting.

The other direction is my temporary mailing station. Definitely not thrilling.

I do have some cozy and warm new covers for my bed.

a humongous handmade vintage granny square throw that I found at the antique mall for $5.99

and

a vintage handmade quilt I got at an auction for $20.00

I guess that is all the excitement I am going to get today, but I do have a great mystery to read and just looking at how little I paid for my two cozy covers is pretty exciting to me.

Have a great day.

  1. Hi Laura,

I'm sorry you're having knee problems. I hope you'll feel better very soon. I love the movie "Rear Window", too. It's one of my favorites! Jimmy Stewart was such a great actor, and Grace Kelly was just lovely. I think very few women had her looks, grace, and style.

Your bedroom is lovely, and you got some great deals on new bed coverings. :) Hope you have a great weekend.
