Nine years ago today my daughter gave birth to a wonderful baby boy and "oh boy" I didn't know what I had been missing. We call him Bubba, his younger sister's favorite name for him. She would always say, That's my Bubba.
He was such a tiny little thing at birth, due to my daughter's high risk pregnancies, but he quickly made up for it.
My daughter wrote this about him on Facebook this morning.
Nine!! Happy Birthday to my beautiful spirited baby boy! The boy they nicknamed "the little old man" in the nursery because he was such an old soul. The boy who hated to lay down as a newborn because he always wanted to see the world. The boy who crawled at 5 months, walked at 8 months, ran at 10 months and never looked back. The boy who has only two favorite "toys" that he ever "plays" with... his wooden sword and his dear Bear Bear. The boy with the biggest heart and largest imagination. I wish I could take a trip inside that magic world in his head... and oh, boy when he's ready to share it you better sit down because he can go on for hours! These have been the best years of my life and I can't wait for the next nine!! Love you Bubba!! You are an amazing person!
He's all that and so much more.
A boy who loves his family. Here he is a few years ago with his mom, his sister, and me.
a wonderful big brother and best friend to his little sister
although he doesn't always want her to know.
and an all round great kid.
So happy ninth birthday to the sweetest boy I have ever known. May your day be filled with joy and imagination. You were definitely worth the wait.
Love, Nana

Oh, my goodness! What a marvelous post. I can't believe the way newborn Bubba is looking at the person holding him - as if he knows everything. Old soul, indeed. Lovely.

ReplyDeleteThere's something very special about boys. I have 2 and my sweetie has 4. We're blessed. The first 4 grandchildren were boys too, but then we had a few precious girls! That's awesome too. We're at 7 boys and 4 girls...secretly hoping for an even dozen!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post on your blog and thanks for mentioning Mama's post on her blog. I love you Nana!! Love, Jack Henry BFF.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice looking young man. I can tell how proud you are of your grandson.
