I was recently contacted by Kathryn of Goodwill Genealogists about some photos in Gossamer Memories. I loved being introduced to her site.
"Goodwill Genealogists are the ”Secret Santas” or “amigo secreto” of genealogy."
Their mission statement:
"to digitize family history materials, making them more widely available to family historians. We seek out family bibles, photographs, genealogies, letters, and other documents that contain information that might otherwise be lost. Once digitized, we try to reunite the original sources to families and genealogical societies."
I love that they are trying to put lost treasures back into the hands of family members. As a vintage and antiques seller, I love to see pieces of history put in to the hands of people who really appreciate them, but always feel somewhat sad when I see family photos, bibles, and letters that have lost their way over the years.
I know how much I value my own family treasures.
Here are some samples of her finds
